Home » About Mark Hearn
Mark’s journey in Southern California real estate began 40 years ago. After a distinguished career overseeing valuations for national giants like Washington Mutual, he founded Hearn Quality Appraisal, Inc. in 2004 to bring that “Big Bank” expertise to a boutique, client-focused level.
With over 7,000 homes appraised, Mark has seen every market cycle and every property type. His reputation for being “fair, honest, and impartial” has made him a preferred partner for the County of Los Angeles, the City of Torrance, and Northern Trust.
We know how overwhelming major real estate decisions can feel — especially when you’re trying to coordinate appraisals, sales, and estate planning with different professionals pulling you in different directions.
Mark has been there, on both sides of the table, for 40 years. He understands what it costs — financially and emotionally — to navigate a major transaction without the full picture. And he built this practice so that you’ll never have to.
Since 1986, Mark has guided property owners, estate families, and investors through every major California market cycle — the S&L Crisis, the Northridge Earthquake, the Sub-Prime collapse. He is one of the only advisors in Southern California who holds both a California Certified Residential Appraiser license and a California Real Estate Salesperson license simultaneously — which means each service is performed in its proper role and sequence: the appraisal first, independently and impartially; the sales strategy follows, informed by that same expert understanding of your property.
